Rodney Wayne “Papaw” Scarbro,80, of Glen Daniel, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Earth’s loss is truly Heaven’s gain.



Born September 30, 1934 at Oak Hill; he was a son of the late Huey Green Scarbro and the late Ethel Stover Scarbro.



Rodney loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and working in his garden; he enjoyed going to church, eating out, loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a coal miner for...

Rodney Wayne “Papaw” Scarbro,80, of Glen Daniel, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Earth’s loss is truly Heaven’s gain.



Born September 30, 1934 at Oak Hill; he was a son of the late Huey Green Scarbro and the late Ethel Stover Scarbro.



Rodney loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and working in his garden; he enjoyed going to church, eating out, loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a coal miner for 41 years and a member of the UMWA and Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Wayne Scarbro, Jr; five brothers, Emery R. Scarbro, Maddy Scarbro, Eddie Scarbro, Henry Scarbro, and Huey G. Scarbro, Jr; and three sisters, Laurabell Wriston, Erma Patrick, and Ethel Scarbro.



Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Pearl “Dolly” Scarbro; children, Tammy E. Stover and husband, Rick of Arnett, Robert A. Bolen, Jr of Arnett, Debra K. Johnson and husband, Thomas of Lebanon,TN, and Ronnetta S. Jones and husband, Jerimy of Lebanon,TN; grandchildren, Michael Scarbro and wife, Liz of San Antonio, TX, Dominica A. Sesco and husband, Brian of Fairdale, Brandie Holm and husband, Robert of Mabscott, Ricky Stover and wife, Staci of Bolt, Della Eastridge and husband, Dave of Glen Daniel, Robert C. Bolen and partner, Brittany Dillon of Beckley; great-grandchildren, Mason Jones, Rayna Jones, Caige Acord, R.J. Calloway, Daylan Spencer, Justin Eastridge, Morgan Eastridge, Kody Sesco, Harlie Clark, Brooklyn Bolen, Kayleigh Stover, Braxton Holm, Ashley Jones, and Tyler Ramsey; siblings, Roger D. Scarbro of Oak Hill, Edna M. Dower of Roanoke, VA and Judy Scarbro of Washington; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.



Services to celebrate the life of Rodney Wayne “Papaw” Scarbro will be held 12:00PM Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church, Bolt with Pastor Dewey Lowe officiating. Following the services Rodney will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.



Friends may gather with the family from 10:30AM until time of the service Monday at the church.
