Jimmie F. Grose 79, of Beckley, went home to be with his Lord on Monday March 30, 2015 in a Charleston hospital following a long illness.



Born December 23, 1935 in Ury WV, he was the son of the late Jack and Hattie Graham Grose.



Jimmie served proudly in the United States Navy. He was a coalminer with over 30 years of service and was a proud member of the UMWA. Jimmie was a long time member of the Sophia Volunteer Fire Department, serving his community for over 30...

Jimmie F. Grose 79, of Beckley, went home to be with his Lord on Monday March 30, 2015 in a Charleston hospital following a long illness.



Born December 23, 1935 in Ury WV, he was the son of the late Jack and Hattie Graham Grose.



Jimmie served proudly in the United States Navy. He was a coalminer with over 30 years of service and was a proud member of the UMWA. Jimmie was a long time member of the Sophia Volunteer Fire Department, serving his community for over 30 years as a firefighter. Jimmie Loved the Lord, and served the Lord as a member of the Peirpoint Freewill Baptist Church in Peirpoint WV. He also loved spending time with his many friends at the Raleigh county Commission on Aging.



In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Glorine Grose, and his brother Norman Ralph “Dick” Grose .



Those left to cherish his memory include his second wife Shirley Grose, his son Jimmie F. Grose Jr. , his daughter Debbie Adkins and her husband Terry; his two sisters Lois Tamarri and her husband Paul, and Viginia Youngs; his step daughter Gloria Tolbert and her husband Wayne; 2 step-grandchildren Jeff Tolbert, and Rebecca George, and 4 step-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends and dearly loved church family.



Services will be held on Thursday April 2, 2015 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home, with Pastor Michael Knotts and Pastor Butch Acord officiating. Following the service Jimmie will be given full military honors by American Legion Post 32 Honor Guard of Beckley, and he will also receive firefighters honors from his brothers on the Sophia Volunteer Fire Department, he will then be laid to rest in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.



Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday evening from 6pm until 9pm at the funeral home.
