Gary Keith Darnell, 64, a loving husband, devoted father, and hard worker, entered into Jesus’ glory on August 9, 2017 after battling a rare disease called AL-Amyloidosis.

He was born in Athens, Ohio to Harold and Phyllis (Linscott) Darnell. Gary attended Hocking College and graduated with a degree in Police Science, later proudly serving in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer and a Dog Handler. He worked for Pepsi Co. alongside his best friend Ed O’Bryan (Shady Spring) and also worked as a real estate agent for his good friend Tim Berry at Tim Berry Real Estate (Beckley). Gary was an avid golfer, Ohio State’s biggest fan, and part of the family at Calvary Assembly of God.

He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife, Tammy (Pittman) Darnell; his four children, Elissa Darnell, Carly Darnell, Michael Darnell (and Lauren Tabor), Amanda Vance (and John Handy); a child special to his heart, Amanda Entinger; one grandson, Korey Darnell; five sisters, Sharon Darnell, Rebecca Foughty, Diana and Don Stover, Pamela and Rick Riley, and Lisa and Rusty Kisor; eight nieces and nephews, Jaime, David, and Brian Foughty, Jesse, Derek, and Aaron Stover, Charla Riley, and Brandy Kisor, and a cousin who was like a brother to him, David Darnell.

We are so grateful to our church family at Calvary Assembly of God for the support and especially for the prayers as we have walked this difficult journey. A special thank you to Hospice of Southern West Virginia; Cari, Paula, Chris, Stephanie, Andrea, Becky; Dr. Caleb Workman from Beckley, West Virginia; Dr. Shaun Groves from Charleston, West Virginia; Dr. Div Patel and Dr. Valent at Cleveland Clinic; Pat McKinney and staff at Mount Hope Elementary School; and all of the family and friends who have carried us each step of the way.

Services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 1:00PM at Calvary Assembly of God located at 319 Sunset Drive Beckley, WV 25801. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV.
