Bishop Daniel Alan Hudgins, Sr., 57, of Beckley, made his Heavenly journey on Thursday, November 24, 2016. He was the son of Priscilla Anderson and the late Rev. Elbert “E.M.” Hudgins. He was born November 27, 1958 in Bluefield, West Virginia. Daniel worked 27 years as a coal miner for US Steel Mining. He cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. Daniel was a Church of God Minister. He Pastored two churches, was a Chaplain, took several mission trips and very knowledgeable with the Bible. Daniel enjoyed coaching kids in many different sports including; Pineville Little League, Midget League, Jr. High Football; Beckley Little League; Baileysville Grade Basketball. He loved watching sports, hunting, fishing, boating and his church family. Daniel had a very playful personality. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Luke Christopher. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 39 ½ years, Sheri Hudgins of Beckley; mother, Priscilla Hudgins of Pineville; son, Daniel “Al” Hudgins Jr and wife Lindsay of Beckley; daughter, Melissa Dawn Clay and husband Chris of Beckley; sisters, Carolyn Adams and husband William of Cary, NC and Shelia Akers and husband Charlie of Pineville; grandchildren, Xander Cole, Livie Jo, and Zane Alan Hudgins, Kaitlyn Danielle, Trinity Isabelle and Josie Brielle Clay. He was very close to his nieces, Morgan, McKinlea and Kara along with his nephew, Jeremy. Joshua 24:15 But as me and my household, we will serve the LORD. Friends may gather with the family Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Family Worship Center in Beckley from 11-12:30. Funeral service will be held 12:30 pm, Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Family Worship Center with Dr. Ray Kirkland, Bishop Frederick Fisher and Rev. Chris Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Randy Garcia, Larry Steel, Lance Ridpath, Scott Berg, Rev. Scottie Cline, Rev. Andy Ratliff, Danny Sims and Mark Bolen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Rev. Boyd England and Rev. Ernest Pennington.
